A 19th century inlaid slant lid bracket base desk with 3 drawers. The top, lid and drawer fronts have border inlay and the lid has an inlay in the center of a conch sea shell typical of the Federal period.
There are no marks identifying the maker. The top, lid and drawer fronts are cherry with pine used on the sides and back and oak used for the drawer sides and bottoms. The hardware is brass amd all original.
Height: 34-1/2” overall
Condition: The latch for the lid lock is missing and at some point was filled. The lock for the top drawer is missing as well. There are several chips along the edges of the top and the right side has tight checks. The drawers slide freely and are in nice shape inside as is the top section. The lid is secure at the hinges and works fine. The hardware is all in nice condition. It retains it’s original finish in decent age considering age and its purpose. A very nice and unusual desk.
