A carved and painted fishing creel by Emile Robichaud (1902-1993). Robichaud, a northern Maine guide, would make these for his clients. This one was made for Micheal as identified on the lid. The lid is held in place with leather fish shaped hinges and it retains its original canvas strap. It is signed and dated 1978 on the bottom edge of the creel in green. The cedar slat creel measures 15" x 6" and stands 7-1/2" high. No issues, excellent condition. An excellent example of outdoors American folk art.
